I stopped wearing nail polish many years ago, and I am so glad I did, especially after reading what they contain. Thanks for a very informative article
I honestly didn’t know nail polish could be so dangerous until I researched this article. Glad you found the information useful!
Nice info..Jazakallahu Khayr for sharing. 🙂 I never used nail polishes and had no idea about all these. f
You’re welcome.
I know about toxic ingredients because they are in every cosmetic product out there. It’s such a shame that companies use toxic ingredients and many people don’t even realise. I don’t personally wear nail polish but it’s a great informative post to read.
Lots of love,
Ramshaa Rose

It really is a shame that companies use these ingredients knowing that it can cause irreparable harm.
Ma sha Allah good info and in pretty good detail. Jazakillahu khair. Though I haven’t used a nail polish in a long time (personal preference) I was just speaking to Zawji today about it.. Wondering if we have any nailpolish that we can use even while doing wudoo…..
Seems like four brands are halal certified :
Tuesday in Love
Beauty Lope
Sampure Minerals
PHB ethical beauty
I know what Halal certified means when it comes to food but what does it mean when it comes to nail polishes?
Here is another option:
Amara Halal Cosmetics is based in the US, Halal certified and has Wudu friendly nail polish.
Getting a halal certification for cosmetics has very stringent requirements. Basically, a halal inspector comes to the manufacturing facility and watches the company’s complete manufacturing process from start to finish. The inspector also has to look at where the finished products and ingredients are stored. The company has to submit information about their raw materials, packaging, labeling, storing, etc. to be analyzed for haram ingredients. Normally, the halal certification is good for one year but a company must have yearly inspections to keep the halal certification. I think having a product certified halal is probably 10 times more work and money than getting a cruelty-free or vegan certification.
A little update, PHB ethical doesn’t seem to do international shipping anymore – for nail polish at leasf – just read:”Due to new mailing regulations this product is ONLY AVAILABLE FOR DELIVERY IN THE UK.” 🙁
Also, Tuesday in Love has some reviews saying that it is not wudoo friendly 🙁
Genuinely looking to buy wudoo friendly one.
Thanks for the update about PHB. I’ll update the post. I’ve looked at a couple of YouTube videos that tested the permeability of the Tuesday in Love nail polish and the water seeps through the polish. If you still have doubts, contact Tuesday in Love directly to have all your questions answered. They are really friendly and respond quickly!
OMG I wear nail polish a lot! I had no idea there were so many chemicals! I will be investigating these chemical free ones!
I was just surprised as you. It’s crazy the things that are in some products.
Thanks for sharing. I don’t wear nail polish and neither does my eldest. However my youngest is showing an interest so will look into cruelty free ones for her if she does want them.
You’re welcome!
I have no idea of nail polish as I am not using but its good to know the facts . Thank you for sharing.
You’re welcome!
Thanks for sharing such a detailed guide for cruelty-free nail polishes! I don’t use nail polish very often but I would love to try these on the rare occasions that I do but unfortunately most of these brands, if not all, aren’t available in Pakistan.
I was having a similar problem with other nail polish guides. Most of the recommendations were US-based companies that didn’t deliver to Germany. I hope you find some options in Pakistan.
